Barry Bluestone, Chair

Barry Bluestone is the Russell B. and Andrée B. Stearns Trustee Professor Emeritus of Political Economy in the School of Public Policy and Urban Affairs at Northeastern University in Boston, Massachusetts. He served as the founding director of the Dukakis Center for Urban and Regional Policy from 1999 to 2015, and the founding dean of the School of Public Policy and Urban Affairs from 2006 to 2012. Before assuming these posts, Bluestone spent twelve years at the University of Massachusetts at Boston as the Frank L. Boyden Professor of Political Economy and as a senior fellow at the university’s John W. McCormack Institute of Public Affairs. He was the founding director of UMass Boston’s Ph.D. program in public policy. Before coming to UMass in the fall of 1986, he taught economics at Boston College for fifteen years and was director of the college’s Social Welfare Research Institute. Professor Bluestone was raised in Detroit, Michigan and attended the University of Michigan, where he received his B.A., M.A. and finally his Ph.D. in economics in 1974.

Eleanor White, Vice-Chair

Recognized as a national leader in the fields of real estate and affordable housing, with over 50 years administering and participating in HUD multifamily programs and multifamily real estate financing and management, 28 years in the public sector at the Federal and State levels (15 years as a Federal employee at HUD and 12 years as co-CEO of the Massachusetts Housing Finance Agency (now MassHousing), and since 1995 in the private sector as President/CEO of Housing Partners, Inc., an affordable housing consulting firm.  She has administered the full gamut of housing programs, brings a keen understanding of how these programs function from both the Federal and State perspective, and has had the opportunity to initiate innovative programs of subsidy, financing, asset management, diversity, organizational management, assisted living, and social services. She is an author of the Chapter 40R/40S (Smart Growth Zoning and Housing Production) Act and the Workforce Housing Trust Fund program in Massachusetts.  Eleanor is a former President of the Board of Citizens Housing and Planning Association, former Chair of the Board of the Greater Boston Real Estate Board, former President of the Board of the MA Association for Mental Health, and is active in many other advocacy organizations. Eleanor holds an A.B. from Harvard University, a Master in Public Administration from Northeastern University, and was a Loeb Fellow at the Harvard Graduate School of Design.  

Eleanor lives in Newton with her husband, Barry White.  They are very proud of their 3 sons, 3 daughters-in-law, and 2 granddaughters.

Edward Zuker, Treasurer

Since founding Chestnut Hill Realty in 1969 and under his continued leadership as Chief Executive Officer, Edward Zuker has overseen the Company's considerable growth while simultaneously ensuring a lasting commitment to its core mission: "Managing People's Homes with Pride."

As one of five generations of the Zuker family to be active in real estate, Ed is a dedicated industry advocate and leader. He has served as President of the Rental Housing Association (RHA) and the Brookline Property Owner's Association, and Vice President of the Greater Boston Real Estate Board. Of the many accolades he has received across his long career, he was recognized with the highly selective RHA Industry Excellence Award.
